Acupuncture

Image00089Dr. Stafford has 30 hours of Education through the Chi Institute in Reddick, FL and over 4 years of experience in TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine). Acupuncture is an excellent, drug-free, side-effect free option for acute and chronic illnesses of companion animals. Traditional Chinese Medicine is a more holistic approach to health and wellness. It takes into account the personality type and lifestyle of the pet, as well as its Western medical illness or diagnosis to treat ailments and afflictions in a very comprehensive way.

Acupuncture is over 5000 years old and has been used on animals for at least 4000 years in China. Why the different meridians lie where they do on the body and how they tie into one another and the organs they are associated with is somewhat of a mystery; however, even Western medical blood tests can verify that when appropriately stimulated, the results can be incredible. Blood pressure, stress hormones, and other chemical factors in the blood, nerves and brain can all be affected by acupuncture. Mostly, we allow the clinical effects, the changes owners see in their pets, to speak for themselves.

Acupuncture is often used for chronic illnesses, such as organ failure and hormonal, or endocrine, illnesses. It is extremely effective as an adjunct therapy for arthritis. We also use it for anxiety and compulsion issues in pets.

If you are interested in acupuncture please stop by and take a brochure from the lobby, or schedule time for a consultation with your pet and Dr. Stafford. We are pleased to offer this effective, holistic therapy at our clinic.
